DESCRIPTION:
The Editors have assembled a team of outstanding experts who have made major advances in the management and treatment of Keratoconus. This is a disease that apparently affects only the cornea, and yet is associated with so many other co-morbidities. Keratoconus is a degenerative disorder of the eye in which structural changes within the cornea can lead to substantial distortion of vision, with multiple images.
The new techniques discussed in this book have been expressly ideated to strengthen (collagen crosslinking) or to replace (lamellar keratoplasty) a weakened corneal stroma. The book mainly aims to provide detailed information about how to increase mechanical stability of the cornea in Keratoconus by photo-oxidative cross-linking of the corneal collagen with riboflavin ultraviolet (UV) light.
This comprehensive manual contains colourful pictures and illustrations lucidly explain various Ophthalmic procedures. This reference work will serve as a ready reckoner for the refractive surgeons to treat Keratoconus before there is a significant visual loss in the patient.
